The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) is the esteemed industrial R&D organization which was constituted in 1942 by the then Central Legislative Assembly. CSIR aims to give industrial competitiveness, strong S&T base--the premier industrial R&D organization in India was constituted in 1942 by a resolution of the then Central Legislative Assembly. It is an autonomous body registered under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860.
CSIR aims to provide industrial competitiveness, social welfare, strong S&T base for strategic sectors and advancement of fundamental knowledge.
Government of India has announced a new Science and Technology Policy in the year 2003 which presents Science and Technology with a human face and stresses realities. Even today CSIR is recognized as one of the world’s largest publicly funded R&D organizations having linkages to academics, R&D organizations and industry.
Moreover, CSIR’s 38 laboratories not only build India into a largest network that impacts every Indian but CSIR is also considered to be the party to the prominent Global Research Alliance with the objective of applying global knowledge team for global good through global endowment.
